A BRIEF BIOGRAPHY
Constant Rain reside in Haugesund, Norway
The band was founded on a rainy day in March 1995. It's members emerged from a local choir and the consept was inspired by the famous "Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66". The very first song they played together was the genuine "Chove Chuva/Constant Rain". Thus the name of the band natuarlly became exactly - Constant Rain.
Musical development
The first two wavering years was devoted to the prevailing kind of music that had entered their mind during the years, such as classical pop tunes from the Kinks and The Beatles, Norwegian Jan Eggum and "poetry & music" - while the basic latino-jazz of Sergio Mendes continously was explored. By and by the band's repertoire found it's source in the Jazz Standards, supplemented by Bossa Nova classics.
Sildajazz Festival
The Haugesund Sildajazz Festival in 1997 constituted a milestone in the progress towards being a real jazz group. Saxophone player Karl Christian Grønhaug contributed considerably to the process, being permanent "guest soloist" from that year on. Two years later another saxophone player, the Hungarian-Bergener Zoltan Vincze, a professional musician, entered the band as additional guest soloist. From 1997 till to day the band has participated continously in this festival in addition to various performances around Haugesund, a trip to Swing'n'Sweet Jazz Club in Bergen and a couple of cruises to Denmark and England.
Profile
